College Yard 

 

The proposed design is for the area which lies between the canteen and the architecture college. Location of the yard pools in people from all around the campus. As the area is a frontyard to the architecture department hence discussion and workshops are usually conducted here.

The concept revolves around converting the area as a  hub for the college- "A Magnet" which draws people towards the area. Designing it as a platform which promotes healthy interaction among students of all the departments. 

The canteen has been opened out into the yard and sitting spaces are designed keeping in mind that students hang out in groups. apathway is used to cannelise the crowd towards the canteen. it is one of the main elements of design along with a central amphitheatre which behave as the main connecting links.The amphitheatre is designed to serve dual purposes with 'two stages'. The central lower stage for the inner seating for conducting lectures or workshops as it is secluded, while the upper stage can be used when the whole yard along with canteen has to be made available for the audience.
